The first of the “Bérard” settled on the left bank in 1760.
The origin of the property dates back to 1908, when my great grandfather moved to Bégadan. At that time, the property consisted of 3 hectares of vineyards and was cultivated with mixed farming.
In 1934, Robert Berard, my grand father, took over the vineyard and founded the “cave coopérative viticole de Bégadan”.
At the tender age of 18, in 1985, I took over the estate (which had then grown to the size of 11 hectares) and became the manager of the company.
In 1990, following the purchase of various pieces of land and vineyards, the property grew to the size of around 24 hectares. I quit the cooperative and decided to make my own wine at “Le Bana.”
In 2003, I purchased the additional vineyard of “le Château des Cabans,”, a property labelled with the appellation of ‘Cru Bourgeois’ since 1855, along with those at “ Le Bana” and “Breuil Renaissance.”
Today, my vineyard spreads over 40 hectares, with two separate cellars for the vinification and maturation of the wine in oak barrels.
The 3 “chateaux” brands are being sold in over twenty countries and all three of them keep on receiving awards on a regular basis.
